Monet, Van Gough and the like

I had a wonderful discussion with Ron today., It all started with me “composing” a poem for Neesha, sitting opposite to me and singing.. All started laughing out., Well I cited them the case of Vincent Van Gough(pronounced gouf), who was not appreciated during his lifetime, and was appreciated well after his death.

I have seen Gough’s “Yellow Sunflower” painting(in a photo).. Its good. As I wanted to know more about paintings, I went to Ron, who was listening to all these. He has a good knowledge. He told me the bits and pieces of Van Gough’s story., He also told about Monet(pronounced Mo-ney as in neigh). Monet was an impressionist and he had many paintings to his credit., He had a big garden where many people used to visit., Van Gough have stayed there to work on paintings for sometime. Van Gough thought his paintings to be rubbish, moreover he has dumped by the girl whom he loved. Ron told that, when he was rejected by the girl, he cut his right ear and gave to the girl(not a intelligent thing to do!!)., any way he died poor. But now his paintings are worth a fortune.

I asked Ron, whether he has had the feelings which one should have, when you see a really good painting. He said he had had feelings when he saw some paintings., the most distinctive one in his memory was in France. He said he had been to the gallery where Monalisa painting was kept(he told me the gallery name..I forgot), all the people were looking at the painting of monalisa(which was kept behind a bullet proof screen)., Ron said, opposite to that was this big painting of the “Last Supper”., and he had really enjoyed that painting. Discussion led to Pablo Picasso, and he told me an news item., once a Picasso painting was stolen., In the news they announced that which side of the painting was up and which was down., so that whoever had the painting has atleast hangs it properly!!!!

It was a good day and the friday bug was catching on on everyone, I left with Zakir at around 5.45, went to Homebase. Rashmi wanted some flowers for the vase, I told her that it is better to have a live plant than have cut flowers, which she agreed, but wanted me to tell the same to Zubin. In homebase, I got a good collection of plants, there was a wonderful pot of button roses., really nice., but I was wondering whether they will like them. Finally bought a white Chrysanthemum flower pot., and the pot was kept in a hand basket(woven with cane). I am sure Rashmi, Zubin and Girish will like it. From there I went to Sainsbury’s, bought water and milk and then directly came to Zubin’s house.. My weekends normally is spent at Zubin’s place..

Great tool for troubleshooting..

It always happens to me!! After a meeting with some customers I was at my desk., and someone had kept a hammer on my desk. (Why dont people place back the things, where they took it from..) The moment I lifted it, there comes the customer with a question., is that the tool you use?? “Yes!!! my dear sir, I solve all my problems with hammer.” (Well, luckily I didnt have any screwdrivers on my desk)!

Another week goes by..

Yesterday night, after food., I was retiring to my bed, with my cup of Horlicks (I’ve inherited ‘Horlick’s attributes from my paati(she’s no more now)). I was listening to the song “Palkom pe chalte chalte” sung by Yesudas, from the movie Daayra(I think its “Daayra” anyway I remember that it was directed by Amol Palekar). A really beautiful song. I normally listen to some music at night, Yesterday was a special experience. I switched off the lights, pulled up the curtains, and throught the double glazed windows, I could see the moon and the starts., and was listening to the above cassette. Someone special had popped into my thoughts. I wonder, why I still stick to my old feelings, instead of ignoring them.. Anyway It was a great feeling yesterday night..

Well.., Dreams again!!! Today the dream was about my marriage., My parents had arranged a marriage for me, without any intimation to me. I am taken directly to the marriage venue., I saw the face clearly of the bride. I cannot recollect it now, but I have the memory that I see and talk to her in the dream. I tell her regarding my love for another lady and she wants me to forget it!!(Good try.. Lady!!) there are many problems before the marriage and luckily, I get out of this dream before I marry. (I am not ready for marriage yet.. Its a long way for me) Lucky that such things happen only on dreams.

Dreams, Walks.. etc etc

I had a wonderful dream yesterday.. My Death. I remember being hit by a vehicle and I fell lying on a pool of blood. I cannot see myself, but I can see people rushing around me. I am totally immobilized. Well., but there was no pain. If I remember right, it was a wide road and it was near a junction. I told the dream to Rashmi later today, who said that its good to dream about death as it means logevity of life!!(Girish also said the same thing)Who wants to live longer, anyway.

In the afternoon, had gone for a walk. This time with Ron, Rajesh & Gurjinder. Gurjinder came back midway as the path was a bit muddy. Had a good chat with Ron and Rajesh., and the walk was enlivening. I should be feeding the ducks frequently.. I did it yesterday., but I think I should buy two packets of Bread instead of one.

Jack Ass!!

Two weeks back my computer had a Virus., and I reformatted my PC, removed all the partitions and when it asked me for a name for the Computer., I gave it as “Jhakaas” (Slang in Mumbaiyya Hindi meaning “Great”). Not even in the wildest dreams had I imagined that it will be used against me.

Today, my colleague Matthew, a Pukka English guy., opened up the network neighbourhood, and read my PC as “Jack Ass”!!!! Excuse me.. But my computer is not a “Jack Ass”!!! Well, finally they settled after they decided that I am the real “Jack Ass”. God!!! Thanks for the sense of humour you have given me. I think it will take a long time before the term “Jack Ass” is no more associated with me.

I really do have a cool head!!!

After the not-so-exciting day yesterday., I went home and had a nice time..(mmm cooking). I really enjoyed the Dahi Baath I made and with the addon Aloo Dum (small potatoes boiled and roasted with spices… mmm..) Well that was the day that was..

Today was a “GREAT DAY!!!!”. I as missed my bus again (I think, I am making it a point to miss my bus..) reached Uxbridge Station by around 8.50 (missed my bus to office by 4 minutes..) well that was ok.. I went to Tesco’s and got bread for the Ducks and went to the main bus stop..(Its getting really cold down here..) I kept the bag on the seat, as my hands were really getting cold.. and guess what, when I got down from the bus at my office., I had forgotten to take my bag from the seat at the bus stop itself(there goes my lunch (Lemon Rice & Pappodoms), and a couple of Java books). Is my grey matter getting outdated??!! I should appreciate the Bus driver, upon whom I entrusted to look for that bag., when he goes back. He was to come again to that stop in one hour and if he finds it he said he will bring it. Well after around one hour, I was again out in the cold at the bus stop., only to find that he didnt find any bag there!!!!

I wonder, why I keep smiling always.. even when I am mentally ****** up(optimism??). Anyway I went to Uxbridge during the lunch time and had enquired with Lost and Found at Bus Garage.. and it was not there., from where I went to Railway station Lost and Found, where the same reply was awaiting me.. the final place was near my bus stop, a security office.. Hiaaaaaaaa… I got it there..

Another eventful day??!!.. Poor ducks., they will have to wait for one more day for the bread. Well another eventful day., Wonder whats in store for me tomorrow??!!!!
